Memorial Day 2015
Confederate Memorial Day Service
The ANVMC headed out on Sunday morning to attend the Confederate Memorial Day Service at ThornRose Cemetery in Staunton, VA.
On our way we made a few stops and were able to enjoy a tour of the Plumb House Museum.
On the way home way home we just had to stop in for an ice cream at “Willie’s Ice Cream” on the outskirts of Waynesboro. It was a delicious stop!
Confederate Memorial Day Service
The ANV-MC headed west this morning to attend the Confederate Memorial Service held at the King of Kings Free Will Baptist Church. We had a great ride, stopping along the way at several roadside markers.
The ANV-MC wreath was presented by Boogie; Frannie presented a wreath on behalf of both the State Society OCR and the Capt. Sally L Tompkins Chapter 2. Our very own Major Wells even did a little bugling.
Confederate Monuments Tour
A great day for a ride. Norman Williams served as the Road Captain for the day. Our ride took us west along Route 60, where we stopped to visit a number of Confederate monuments. Our ride ended in Appomattox with a visit to the Confederate Cemetery.

One disappointing situation that we discovered was that the plaque near the Confederate Cemetery in Appomattox had been altered. The last line had obviously been sanded down. Gratefully we had with us a guidebook that verified the line that had been removed. Shame on the National Parks Service!
Flagging the HistoryMobile
Major Wells and several other members of the Army of Northern Virginia – Mechanized Cavalry headed out on May 11th to flag the Historymobile. Thanks you all for your time spent in the blistering sun to call attention to our Southern history.
